It’s hard not to get immediately drawn into the charm of New Farm and Teneriffe. These lively inner-city riverside suburbs are steeped in a rich history, with many of the fabulous boutiques, bars and restaurants hidden within historic restored woolstores and rustic warehouses or old Queenslander homes.
New Farm encourages an outdoor lifestyle, with tree-lined streets and unique spaces such as the arts venue the Brisbane Powerhouse and the heart of the suburb, the sprawling green New Farm Park. The 37-hectare park attracts visitors from near and far with its perfect riverside picnic spots, cycling loops and tree house-style adventure playground. In late October/November the jacaranda trees that ring the huge park bloom a sea of purple flowers.
Teneriffe, once a farming area and industrial and commercial hub, is filled with stunning old woolstores that have been turned into apartments with bars, restaurants and stores underneath. Wander the boardwalk along the riverfront, and keep an eye out for the suburb's overflowing craft brewery scene.
