Twinstar Guesthouse and Observatory is a unique accommodation featuring an astronomical observatory near Girraween National Park. It provides a perfect place for stargazers, astrophotographers and nature-lovers.
A free guided "Night Sky Tour" is conducted from a private 4.5-metre observatory every night from 8.30 pm (weather permitting). The tour introduces guests to star clusters, nebulae, galaxies, planets and the moon under dark rural skies with a large 46 centimetre reflecting telescope. The tour takes only maximum of six people, allowing a plenty of viewing time for each person.
The Guesthouse has three ensuite guest rooms with its own entrance off the veranda. Each room has an air-conditioning, fridge, microwave, toaster and free WiFi. Optional home-cooked dinner is delivered to room at 7pm. A 24-hour advance booking is required for dinner.
Located on the New England Highway in Ballandean (15-minute drive from Stanthorpe and 40-minute from Tenterfield), Twinstar Guesthouse and Observatory is an ideal base to explore Girraween NP, Bald Rock NP and Bonoo Bonoo NP. A number of local wineries and orchards are found within short distances.
