INFO

Get in touch

The Longreach Explore Centre, located in the heart of Longreach, is the ideal first stop for travellers seeking local knowledge and expert guidance. Friendly staff are available to provide information on accommodations, attractions, road conditions, and assist with all your booking needs. The Centre also offers details on must-see destinations across Queensland and the Northern Territory.

The best time to visit the Longreach region is from April to October, during the cooler months when attractions and activities are fully operational. From mid-October to March, the area experiences high temperatures and lower visitor numbers, resulting in some attractions, tours, and shows being unavailable. Contact the Longreach Explore Centre to check which attractions and tours remain open during the off-peak season.

The Longreach region offers diverse experiences for every traveller. Discover the rich history of aviation and outback pioneers, explore prehistoric crocodile fossils, and enjoy breath-taking sunsets over the Thomson River. Follow Major Mitchell’s path along the Outer Barcoo, hear the stories of Australia's stockmen, and visit the birthplace of Qantas. Take a ride in a Cobb & Co Coach, walk the 'Ilfracombe Machinery Mile,' or learn about Australia's first crocodile at Isisford. Whether you’re seeking a quiet retreat or an action-packed adventure, Longreach has something special for everyone.
