If you’re looking for a challenge this year – or simply to have a little fun on your bike – look no further than these cycling events in Queensland. 

Rotary Ride the Range | Toowoomba

When: 16 March 2025

Let the clean, crisp air energise you through the incredible scenery and epic peaks of Queensland Country during your choice of the Rotary Ride the Range's six timed rides. There's something for everyone, from social riders coasting the Nifty50 down the range (they'll pick you up at the bottom!), through to hardcore challenge beasts tackling the double range climb of The 200 (SEQ's toughest and longest charity ride).

No matter how you ride, both the views and the quintessential country Queenland hospitality will stay with you long after the finish, with Rotary committed to fully supporting and looking after each and every rider.

Brisbane Cycling Festival | Brisbane

Brisbane Cycling Festival

When: 21 March - 13 April 2025

All eyes are on the River City as the Brisbane Cycling Festival steams into town for another action-packed year, with a range of events across 20 days for elite professionals, amateurs, casual cyclists and spectators.

Highlights include the AusCycling Track National Championships, where you can catch the best athletes in the country battling it out during exhilarating events like individual and team pursuits, time trials, scratch races and omnium trackside at Anna Meares Velodrome.

Australia will host the first combined Oceania Cycling Championships within the festival, with championship titles to be contested in disciplines including BMX Racing, BMX Freestyle, Mountain Bike Cross Country, Mountain Bike Downhill, Para-cycling (road and track), Road (time trial & road race) and Track, at venues across Brisbane.

Tour de Brisbane | Brisbane 

When: 12 - 13 April 2025

With over 110 kilometres of fully closed city roads and a home at the Brisbane Showgrounds, the Tour de Brisbane is the ride you don’t want to miss! There are multiple rides to get you moving with distances and challenges for everyone. Whether you’re going for a pedal with the fam or going for the podium, there’s a ride or race for you.​

UCI Masters Mountain Bike World Championships | Cairns & Great Barrier Reef

When: 14 - 18 May 2025

Cairns hosts the 2025 UCI Masters Mountain Bike World Championships featuring the mountain bike formats of Cross-country Olympic and Downhill with hundreds of athletes from around the world.

Crankworx Cairns | Cairns & Great Barrier Reef

When: 20 - 25 May 2025

Taking place at Smithfield’s world-renowned mountain bike trails, Crankworx Cairns combines festival vibes with a jam-packed schedule of elite and amateur competition.

Port Douglas Gran Fondo | Cairns & Great Barrier Reef

When: 12 - 14 September 2025

Port Douglas has a special way of relaxing travellers: so if you’re after a cycling event in Queensland that is as much about the surrounds as it is the ride, the Port Douglas Gran Fondo is it. The festival spans three days, with two Gran Fondo courses that follow the spectacular Great Barrier Reef Drive between Port Douglas and Palm Cove. The rides are timed, but they aren’t a race, so it’s up to you whether you go flat-out or take it easy and soak up the scenery. A good excuse to turn the trip into a getaway or family holiday, the festival includes plenty more events including a Medio Fondo, sprint, family ride and more.
