One of Queensland’s toughest endurance events, set in one of our most spectacular coastal towns, Noosa Triathlon returns from 29 October - 2 November 2025 with an action-packed festival for all.

Here’s everything you need to know about Noosa Triathlon, and how to make the most of your time on the Sunshine Coast.

What makes the Noosa Triathlon so special?

Noosa Triathlon, Sunshine Coast

The Noosa Triathlon is an internationally acclaimed event for many reasons. The scenic course winds its way from Noosa's golden beaches into the hinterland. Its history, a now four-decade-long tradition to descend on the surf town to compete. The atmosphere stretches off the course and into the after-party.

Put simply, this is Australia’s largest, oldest and highest-profile triathlon event. One of the world’s largest Olympic-length triathlons and the biggest multi-sports festival in the Southern Hemisphere, the five-day event attracts over 13,000 competitors from across the globe and more than 30,000 spectators.

Whether you’re a professional, training for your first triathlon, or a weekend fitness warrior looking for your next challenge, there’s an event at Noosa Triathlon for you.

Noosa Triathlon events

Noosa Triathlon, Sunshine Coast

The main event – Noosa Triathlon – tackles the Olympic distance course from Main Beach, through the village streets into the Hinterland. That’s a 1.5km ocean swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run. But there's plenty more than just the triathlon to get you to join the action across the five-day festival.

  • Noosa Run Swim Run: anyone from 8 to 80 years of age can join in for a 1.5km run, 750m swim and 1.5km run (shorter distances for 8-13 years)
  • Tour de Noosa: 28km out and back cycle course that cruises through Noosa, and ends with a free coffee
  • Breakfast Fun Run: 5km of good times for all ages
  • Noosa 1000 Ocean Swim: 1km open water from Noosa Main Beach
  • Noosa Superkidz Triathlon: a kid's version of the iconic triathlon for your future triathlon stars aged 7-13 years. This is all about fun, with no times or placings recorded
  • Special Triathlon: a shorter, safe course that covers 100m swim, 3km cycle and 500m run for people living with disabilities
  • Australian Open Criterium: a star-studded lineup of some of Australia's best professional cyclists. It’s a high-intensity race on the super-fast circuit along Noosa Parade – and certainly one to grab a spot by the sidelines.
  • Noosa Bolt: Australia’s premier 5km road race brings the country’s best middle-distance runners to the flat, multi-lap course along Noosa Parade
  • Noosa Sport & Lifestyle Expo: Return to the festival village at Noosa Woods where you can learn about the latest gear and tech for endurance athletes.
