Elliott Heads

You can take in nearly every picturesque vista imaginable on your journey to Elliott Heads - small crops, sugarcane, rural settings with cows and paperbark trees all feature along the road to your beachside destination.

Where the river meets the sea it's the best of both worlds, calm still water swimming on one side (watch the current), or the absolute pleasure of diving headfirst into the waves of the Southern Great Barrier Reef just 100 meters away.

The beach is patrolled from September to May but relatively safe to swim at other times and there is heaps of parking for anyone towing a caravan or boat.

There are two eating options here, or you can 'bring your own' with a picnic or barbecue and the beach is connected to the Coral Coast pathway which winds all the way from Elliott Heads to Burnett Heads but shorter walks and strolls along the foreshore are just a lovely way to start or end your day.

The caravan park is in an enviable position and is an idyllic setting to spend a few nights (or weeks) exploring the region.
