Courtesy of our warmer temperatures, dining al fresco has never been so enticing, and has given birth to an ever-growing number of world-class precincts.
Our booming dining scene is evident nowhere more than in the capital, where Howard Smith Wharves and Eat Street Northshore bustle year-round. The Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, and even further north in Tropical North Queensland is where you’ll find some of the country’s most lauded restaurants.
Of course, no quality eatery is complete without some quality produce. Thankfully there’s no shortage of that in these parts. Fruit and seafood is abundant in this tropical climate, and best sampled at the produce-favouring markets lining the state, from Eumundi to Brisbane central, as well as Queensland’s burgeoning population of food festivals.
The thirsty will also find an ally in Queensland. While wine bars continue to flock to the larger cities, and the production of quality vineyards only continues to grow, it’s in the beer department that Queensland also shines. Brisbane has been dubbed the country’s craft brewery capital, home to the majority of producers Australia-wide. The remainder of Queensland is now following suit, with independent breweries on the rise everywhere from Burleigh to Cairns.
