There's a new adrenaline rush in town, as Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas opens an immersive experience of a diifferent kind: the chance to “Swim With The Salties” - that is, come eye-to-eye underwater with one of the world's most feared apex predators, the Estuarine Crocodile.

The highlight experience for the more daring visitors to “be the croc bait” is a part of the long-awaited CrocArena attraction, which is now complete.

The park is now welcoming guests to the brand-new, one-of-a-kind experience which can be viewed by spectators from multiple levels, as well as feeding presentations at CrocArena.

“The concept of swimming with the modern-day dinosaurs was first conceived by founder of the CaPTA Group, the late Charles Woodward, over five years ago,” said Wildlife Habitat General Manager Clare Anderson.

“The wait is now over – we are all so ecstatic to see that his dream has finally come to fruition.”

Two huge crocodiles named Big Al and Digger have been transferred to Wildlife Habitat from Australia Zoo to star in the experience, to be joined shortly by a third co-star, Ton.

“Guests will be shocked by how close you get to these huge reptiles as they lunge for their meal – you’ll feel like you are in the water with them,” said CaPTA Group General Manager Andrew Hearn.

“CrocArena will increase tourism to Port Douglas, create jobs and assist in building an increased understanding and respect for these amazing animals."
