Over the past year, leading eco-tourism experience Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas has been revamping the park with new improvements, including the highly anticipated Rainforest Habitat.

Open from 18 September 2020, the new aviary experience takes visitors on a multi-level adventure through lush flora, while interacting with the cassowaries, pademelons and other tropical birds. New features in Rainforest Habitat include the sky-high Birdseye Bridge which takes visitors up to the treetops, and Licuala Tower which offers stunning views of the entire aviary.

The opening of the Rainforest Habitat marks completion of stage two of Wildlife Habitat’s three major improvement projects, after Nocturnal Habitat opened in 2019, and the CrocArena to come in 2021.

“These improvements, and the sales efforts we are making, will allow us to bring tourists back, create jobs and do our bit in the recovery of the Port Douglas economy. The whole team has worked incredibly hard and we can’t wait to show it all off,” said Wildlife Habitat Manager, Andrew Hearn.

With reef, rainforest, beach and outback to explore in and around the tropical north, here are 30 of the best things to do in Port Douglas while you’re visiting.
