By Jess Pridmore

As dream wedding destinations go, the Gold Coast is hard to beat. Boasting world-renowned beaches, lush hinterland, and seemingly infinite venues fit for your impending nuptials, Queensland’s vibrant southern coastline is one of the best places to say your “I do”s.

Whether you dream of beachfront or countryside, modern or traditional, these are the best wedding venues on the Gold Coast.

All that’s left to do is decide where to go on your honeymoon.

Rustic wedding venues around the Gold Coast

White Chapel & Black Hall, Kalbar

Perched on the edge of Mount Barney National Park in the historic country town of Kalbar, White Chapel oozes country charm. The elegant wooden chapel has been lovingly restored, featuring vaulted ceilings, original wooden floors and elegant gardens fit for the most beautiful of wedding days.

White Chapel also features a number of reception options on the property; Black Hall, an elegant barn conversion with original fireplace, panelled walls and wooden floors—even an antler chandelier—and The Barn and Grounds with its beautifully restored building overlooking the gardens.

Spicers Peak Lodge, Maryvale

Sitting atop a mountain and enveloped by 10,000 acres of pristine national park as your backdrop, Spicers Peak Lodge is one of the most elegant country-style wedding venues on the Gold Coast. A hatted restaurant, luxurious accommodation, on-site spa, and accommodation for your guests, Peak Lodge is the wedding destination to beat.

Your dedicated wedding coordinator will help you plan your dream nuptials, helping you scope the property for your perfect ceremony location and reception.

If your dream country wedding involves wide open spaces and luxury accommodation, then Spicers Peak Lodge has all bases covered.

Cowbell Creek, Austinville

Surrounded by breathtaking hinterland, Cowbell Creek is a charming four-generation farm-come-private wedding venue oozing a tonne of country romance. Less than 30 minutes from the Gold Coast, Cowbell Creek feels a million miles away from the bustling hoards, its rolling hills, ancient fig trees and resident farm animals providing a genuine tranquillity.

The property is all yours for your big day, with options to host your ceremony and receptions in various areas of the property. Pop champagne under the old fig trees, then dance into the early hours. The choice is all yours.

Ecostudio Fellini, Mudgeeraba

The idyllic backdrop of Ecostudio Fellini is as romantic as it gets for a Gold Coast wedding venue. Hidden at the south-eastern edge of Springbrook National Park, say ‘I do’ in the alfresco chapel overlooking the property’s lush manicured lawns—complete with flowering lilypond and flower beds.

The choice is yours whether to host your reception on the charming wooden deck of the chic property or hold a cocktail party on the lawn. The property’s dedicated event coordinators will take of every detail, so all you have to do is party the night away under the stars. Wedded bliss, indeed.

Beach weddings on the Gold Coast

Blessed with mile upon mile of world-famous coastline, the Gold Coast is a dream location for a beach wedding. With over 50 km of beach to choose from, the choice is yours; just be sure to apply for a ceremony permit. They’re free of charge from Gold Coast City Council and will ensure your big day runs smoothly.

Currumbin Deck, Currumbin Beach

Currumbin Deck on Currumbin Beach is as close as you can get to a beach wedding on the Gold Coast without dipping your toes in the ocean. With its golden sands and ocean views as your tropical locale, the location is practical as it is pretty, boasting a wooden walkway (which transforms into your very own aisle) for access right up to the sand line.

John Laws Park, Burleigh Heads

Maybe the most iconic settings on the southern Gold Coast, John Laws Park is perched atop Burleigh Heads and steals views that stretch along the entire coastline to Broadbeach in the north. Say your vows in front of your loved ones, with the best view in the world as your backdrop. Stunning doesn’t begin to cut it.

A hatted restaurant, Rick Shores will take your reception feast next-level pairing their elegant Thai-infused menu with that uninterrupted view of the ocean.

While you head of to get your professional photos taken, guests can start the celebrations with a glass of bubbly and their iconic bug roll out on Rick Shores’ patio overlooking the sand and sea. From the food to the location to the views, this makes for one unforgettable wedding day.

Traditional Gold Coast wedding venues

Slated for a 2021 launch date, The Valley Estate is the Gold Coast’s newest wedding venue, with decadent stately home feels and five unique structures. With its Manor, Chapel, Glasshouse, Bridal Sanctuary, Gentleman’s Retreat and extensive gardens, The Valley Estate is a one-stop-shop. Loved up couples will be able to host their ceremony, photoshoot and reception all within the one property. The Valley Estate is currently taking reservations for 2021 weddings.

Kooroomba Vinyard and Lavender Farm, Scenic Rim

A working vineyard, restaurant, cellar door and lavender farm, Kooroomba Vineyard is an award-winning wedding venue straight out of a French fairytale. Set amongst resplendent rolling hills of lavender and panoramic views across the Scenic Rim, it’s the vaulted glass and timber chapel that will, quite literally, take your breath away.

The team at Kooroomba will help you in planning every aspect of your big day, from the ceremony and reception right down to décor and food.

Tip: Although you’ll see flowers there year-round, May to October is peak lavender season, where the fields fill with a deep purple hue and the air is scented with the smell of fresh lavender. So time your nuptials accordingly.

Modern Gold Coast wedding venues

Sheraton Grand Mirage, Main Beach

For a no-expenses-spared wedding on the Gold Coast, there’s nowhere more luxurious than the Sheraton Grand Mirage. Nestled on its own 6-acre beachside oasis but ideally located in the heart of the Gold Coast, here you have the best of both worlds; privacy and accessibility.

Multiple elegant function spaces cater to every kind of wedding at the Sheraton Grand Mirage, whether you dream of an intimate garden party or an all-out ballroom event, the choices of beachside ceremonies and open-air dancefloors with pool views. Lavish doesn’t even cover it.

Mobile Barber Shop Depot, multiple locations

6-metre high ceilings, exposed brick walls, polished concrete floors and perfectly worn leather chesterfields; the attention to detail at Mobile Barber Shop Depot’s space has to be seen to be believed.

A blank canvas, the industrial-chic aesthetic of the warehouse space makes for a stunning backdrop for any modern wedding—and some incredible wedding photos. The venue is BYO, too, offering you full creative control for all the finer details. If you’re looking for a Gold Coast wedding venue out of the ordinary, this is it.

Its eclectic space brings a whole lot of personality to your special day, and the team at MM will help you create your vision. Choose from a variety of packages to suit all budgets and styles. The mural-filled walls and eclectic-coloured shutters of the regular food vendors make for quite the dramatic photoshoot, and its famous hidden gin bar the perfect location for a cocktail reception.

The Tropic, Burleigh Heads

Two words: the view! For a thoroughly modern wedding reception, pastel-hued The Tropic at Burleigh Pavilion boasts arguably the best sweeping views of Burleigh Heads and its iconic beach.

Options such as themed food stations, seated dining and full-on feats, The Tropic takes full advantage of its central GC location, using local vendors for things like floral displays, food and décor.

The Borrowed Nursery, Mermaid Beach

A light-filled warehouse-turned plant nursery, Borrowed Nursery is the ultimate blank canvas for a modern Gold Coast wedding.

Supplying the most elaborate greenery and furniture for decoration, say your “I do”s in front of your favourite people and amongst a veritable (albeit curated) jungle. Borrowed Nursery’s team will help you design every detail of your big day—including a list of recommended local vendors—helping bring your dream to life.
