Destination

St Lawrence, south of Mackay, is one of the oldest towns on the coast of Queensland. Major attractions include the St Lawrence Wetlands, freshwater fish habitats and abundant birdlife. The township was originally built to service the Customs Office for the Port of St Lawrence. Interesting sites include the recently refurbished meatworks site and the Centenary Pavilion. There is one General Store, a hotel, post office, bowls club, golf course, swimming pool, library/internet access centre and an arts and craft shop.

Campers and caravans can enjoy the recreation reserve. There are great fishing and crabbing spots close by.

Take a four wheel drive and travel the countryside along the Bicentennial National Trail, starting from the coastal town of St Lawrence. Visit the historical buildings and sites around St Lawrence, enjoy a spot of fishing or play a game of bowls with the locals on Sunday.

The nearby Clairview beach is a great spot for a day trip or for some fresh seafood at Barracrab.
