Attractions

The Whitsundays is located in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, one of the world's seven natural wonders.

This World Heritage-listed marine park, along with its diverse ecosystems, follows the Queensland coastline and covers an area of over 344,400 square kilometers, stretching more than 2,000 kilometers in length. It serves as the perfect base for exploring this aquatic wonderland.

Visitors can experience this bucket-list destination in numerous ways. Options include swimming, snorkeling, diving, sailing, and even flying over this remarkable reef, including the most photographed part of the reef, Heart Reef. Adventurous travelers can even spend the night there, either under the stars or in the only underwater hotel on the Great Barrier Reef.

The Whitsundays is also acclaimed for having some of the best fishing in Queensland. Charter vessels operating out of Airlie Beach and the resort islands offer a variety of trips to the rich waters of the outer Great Barrier Reef.

With so many options available to enjoy your Great Barrier Reef experience, you may find yourself wanting to try more than one!
