Whitula Gate Museum

Windorah, Barcoo Area

Attractions

The Whitula Gate Museum is housed in a historic slab hut originally built by the Rabbit Board in 1906 as a boundary riders' shelter. In 1996, the hut was relocated to its current site, where it now serves as the centerpiece of the museum. Designed to replicate an 1800s homestead, the museum showcases a collection of household items, station equipment, and Aboriginal artifacts, providing visitors with a glimpse into life in early Outback Queensland.

Adjacent to the museum is the Windorah Information Centre, making it an ideal stop for visitors to relax, gather local insights, and learn about the area. This unique combination of history and local knowledge creates an enriching experience for those exploring the region.
