Home to the world's largest collection of Australian dinosaur fossils, 13 life-size bronze dinosaurs have arrived at Winton’s Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum.
Digitally sculpted by palaeo-artist Travis Tischler using modern ‘lost-plastic’ technology, the bronze models took nearly a year to complete and travelled all the way from Thailand.
The gigantic dinosaurs are set to become a part of the future March of the Titanosaurs exhibition, which forms part of the museum’s Dynamic Destination project. Due for completion by mid-2021, the new additions further place Winton as the palaeontology capital of Outback Queensland.
“The logistics in getting these models built and transported all the way to Winton from Thailand has been very intense so having them finally arrive without a scratch is a huge relief,” said executive chairman of the Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum, David Elliott.
“The models are massive and they are incredibly detailed – they will be a significant drawcard for tourism in the region well into the future”.
