Glowing by the river in Brisbane’s South Bank, the Queensland Performing Arts Centre is the state’s cultural epicentre. It’s where you’ll find big-ticket international tours in the concert halls, as well as grassroots theatre on their smaller stages. Beyond the South Bank precinct, South East Queensland is littered with independent theatres and venues showcasing local talent. 

You don’t even need to book tickets if you want in on the action. From Fortitude Valley grunge, to the flair of Surfers Paradise, each party precinct offers its own distinct flavour and rotation of local performers. With live music performances happening most nights of the week, our night markets and bars are flush with undiscovered talent. 

Expect to run into some master mixologists and down a pint of a local craft brew that will loosen you up in time for the main event. There’s plenty of room on the dancefloor when you’re ready to leave the rest of the world behind and groove with some locals as an emerging music act takes the stage.
