Guide

By Sarah Bristow

The Sunshine Coast is a region well-deserving of your attention, partly thanks to its abundant population of postcard-worthy beaches, and partly thanks to its burgeoning population of drinking, dining, and shopping precincts. The jewel in the crown of this region is undoubtedly the resort town of Noosa, and at its centre the ever-bustling Hastings Street. Get better acquainted with just how to spend your time while here with this guide to what to do in Hastings Street, Noosa.

Eat

Noosa remains the capital of the Sunshine Coast’s food scene, with Hastings Street its epicentre. Eateries for every occasion line this main drag - start your day off strong with breakfast at local institutions Cafe Le Monde, or Bistro C on the beachfront. If a casual lunch is calling, there’s Noosa Beach house, or the Pan-Asian fare of Bang Bang, not to mention Miss Moneypenny’s, neighbouring the Noosa Spit end of the street.

Though fine dining is really the specialty of this region - grab a memorable bite to eat at Italian favourite Locale, or modern Australian establishment Sails, a sophisticated space within arm’s reach of the waves that’s one of the best restaurants in Noosa. Sweet fanatic? A visit to Massimo’s for a scoop of creamy gelato is non-negotiable.

Drink

Parched? There’s plenty of places to quench your thirst around these parts. The best views in the town arguably belong to the Noosa Heads Surf Life Saving Club where locals congregate week-through for a cold beer. But sophisticated cocktails are just as easy to come by courtesy of the flourishing array of bars populating Hastings Street, Noosa. Miss Moneypenny’s has quite the reputation for specialty tipples, as does Rococo.

More of a wine fan? Make way to pizzeria El Capitano, where delightful sourdough creations are served up alongside traditional vinos, natural wines, and craft beers to boot.

Quality coffee is also easy to find thankfully for those with a caffeine habit - grab a cup at Moonstruck Gin & Coffee, serving locally roasted beans. If you’re in a rush there’s also a Padre coffee cart that can be found outside surf store Deus.

Play

Make the most of Hastings Street’s beachfront location with plenty of time spent enjoying the neighbouring sand and sea. Main Beach and nearby Little Cove are two of the region’s most popular swimming spots thanks to being largely protected from waves and winds, making them particularly family friendly. Within walking distance is also Noosa National Park, a picturesque place abundant in both bushwalking trails and surfing spots - if you’re not yet a wave chaser yourself you can get better acquainted with the sport with a lesson courtesy of Go Ride A Wave. Stretch out post-surf session with a yoga class courtesy of Noosa Beach Yoga.

Though you are welcome to take things a little more leisurely - peruse the boutiques which line Hastings Street, Noosa, including the iconic Noosa Longboards, and the Okanui store. Though the ladies may prefer the likes of the fashion-forward Toscani, Ulterior Motif or Palm Noosa. Or splurge an activity you are unlikely to forget with a cruise down the surrounding Noosa River aboard the unique Gondolas of Noosa.
