When the Brisbane Trail Ultra concept was born, the organisers had some key boxes they wanted to tick. The course had to be packed with rainforest trails, stunning views, and single tracks with plenty of vertical gains and losses – and the finish line had to have a bar, burgers and chips. Sounds fun, right? Don’t let the good times fool you – this is one extreme challenge!
The incredible trails, which range from 10km to a mammoth 100-mile race, start at The Gap and weave through the mountainous sub-tropical hinterland of the D'Aguilar National Park, before navigating back to the finish at Kangaroo Point. The race precinct neighbours a cliff-top dining spot, Joey’s – so runners and supporters can soak up the atmosphere with views of the Brisbane River toward the striking city skyline.
You’ll be right in the midst of the action, so why not stay a while and explore Brisbane like a local? If you’re feeling a little tender, rest your legs and let the CityCat take you to the best spots!
When: 19 - 20 July 2025
Featuring a challenging mix of hills and single trail, The Guzzler give runners a history lesson, weaving through Brisbane’s remarkable reservoirs in the order that they were built. From the race precinct atop the majestic Mount Coot-tha, runners will be guided down and around the Enoggera Reservoir, Gold Creek Reservoir and Lake Manchester (which were originally creeks on the lands of the Turrbal people), along stunning trails that flow throughout the serene D’Aguilar National Park.
From a manageable 10km through to the mighty 100km Guzzler Ultra, each race is filled with stellar surroundings, epic views and plenty of energetic support from volunteer-run checkpoints. The hyped-up finish line back up Mount Coot-tha will quickly turn that grimace into a heroic grin!
With the race precinct just 6 km from the bustling Brisbane City, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to post-race feasting and celebrating, and of course, finding accommodation to rest your weary head (and legs). That recovery massage will be bliss!
When: 30 August 2025
The Wild Earth Coastal High is a picturesque running event located within the Lamington and Springbrook National Parks on the Gold Coast.
The two events; a 50km or 28km trail sees runners traverse spectacular trails through sub-tropical rainforest, open forest and along cliff tops, before descending down into Numinbah Valley and then climbing up to finish adjacent to the magnificent Purlingbrook Falls in Springbrook National Park.
When: TBC October 2025

Whether you are a hardcore trail runner, a weekend warrior, or someone who just loves getting outdoors, the course takes runners on a journey through winding single-track and ferned rainforest and includes a Half Marathon, 11k, 5k and Free Kids Mud Rats events.

This race has it all! The lush subtropical rainforests, roaring waterfalls and eucalypt-lined pockets of the scenic Blackall Range and the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk will be your backdrop as you test your endurance through the rugged yet rewarding Blackall 100 course. When there are trails named ‘Gav’s Gut Buster’, you know you’re heading for some challenging territory! It’ll all be worth it when you get to ring the iconic Blackall Bell after taking those final strides across the finish line.
Whether you’re a camper or a glamper, prefer a rainforest retreat or relaxing farm stay, spending a few days post-race exploring the best of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland will be the most rewarding recovery after tackling the brutally beautiful Blackall Range. There’s no better recovery meal than a pub lunch – and you’ll quickly see (and taste) why keen foodies travel from far and wide for a meal at the historic Mapleton Public House, just a short drive from the event precinct.
When: 26 October 2025
