The first destination is Josephine Falls. I like to experience this exquisite location in the morning when it’s tranquil and can appreciate the sounds of the rushing water and birds still singing their morning song. Meander through 750 metre walk of the rainforest floor and capture her beauty from 3 levels of viewing platforms. Or take a dip in her fresh water pools that invigorate you to slide down the smooth granite that is the rock face if you are brave. Truly an amazing wonder this south side of Cairns and one that simply cannot be missed.

We will then continue on to Etty Bay for lunch. Lay out a picnic rug on the sandy shore, and take in this unique environment where the rainforest meets the sea. Home to The Cassowaries, we might be in luck to witness these beautiful dinosaur birds roaming free in all their splendour and glory. After lunch we head on into The Babinda Boulders. We start by making the 600 metre walk through the rainforest floor before we choose a pool to swim, or take a walk to the beginning of The Goldfield track, a pathway of pure raw rainforest gold.

Let’s start by heading out to Etty Bay, home of the famous Cassowaries. These big old dinosaur birds really command the respect and adoration they deserve. Roaming freely we hopefully will witness their pre-historic aspects as we dig our toes into this sandy beach where the rainforest meets the sea. Then it’s on to Millaa Millaa Falls, a pretty town known as “village in the mist.” It is part of a 17 km waterfall circuit including Zillie Falls and Ellinjaa Falls. With a large pool below, we can lay out a picnic rug and have some lunch after immersing into the refreshing water. Relax and enjoy her splendid offering. It’s then time to experience the High Priestess Josephine and all her glory. A 750 m walk through the rainforest floor to reach Josephine Falls. With her 3 levels of platform viewing and pools to swim, smooth granite rock-face to slide down if your brave, she really is the heart and soul of rainforest. It has been an awesome day to remember always.

Walk the 750 m of rainforest floor to be greeted with the sound of water rushing through 3 levels of viewing magic. Take a dip in the pools or slide down the smooth granite rock-face if you’re brave.
