Islands offer an escape from the ordinary; a chance to disconnect. Australia’s first carbon-positive island perfectly balances escapism and environmental protection, without forgoing luxury. This is Pumpkin Island’s story.

Choose your island adventure

Snorkel the reef just steps from the sand, discover marine life from glass-bottomed kayaks, participate in educational island walks, and come together at the sunset bar to celebrate the day and share stories.

Take your pick from over 900 islands sprinkled along Queensland’s 7,000km coastline, from Moreton and Stradbroke Islands off Brisbane, to the world’s largest sand island Fraser Island off the Fraser Coast, to the unspoiled paradise of the Torres Strait. Visit one of the 74 tropical islands within the Whitsundays, hike alongside koalas on Magnetic Island off Townsville, or discover Tropical North Queensland’s Fitzroy Islands’ private fringe coral reef system.

Pick your own private beach on Pumpkin Island, make your way around the Jurassic-esque Thorsborne Trail on Hinchinbrook Island, or arrive in luxury by helicopter to Orpheus Island. From Cairns, explore family-friendly Green Island, ruggedly luxurious Haggerstone Island, or discover couple hot-spots Lizard Island and Bedarra Island. Towards the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef you’ll find the snorkel and dive trifecta: Lady Elliot, Heron and Lady Musgrave Islands.

There’s a variety of accommodation options available on Queensland’s islands. Camp out under a sea of stars, indulge in a secluded luxury lodge, or pick a family-orientated resort getaway. Many of Queensland’s islands are accessible from the mainland from connecting launch transfers or flights from major cities.

Recharge and relax in a place that will truly change you.
