Tourism operators in Cairns & Great Barrier Reef have been innovating and reinvigorating while their doors have been closed and now they’re ready to take visitors on new culinary journeys.
To discover the flavours of Queensland, here are the latest food and drink tours in the Cairns and Great Barrier Reef region.
On the Great Barrier Reef Drive between Port Douglas and Cape Tribulation, a brand new Daintree Food Trail has launched to celebrate the people and produce of the Daintree and Douglas Shire.
Nestled between the mist-clad mountains, valleys of the Daintree Rainforest, and the pristine beaches of the Coral Sea, follow the winding roads through farmlands and small communities, to discover local delights. With almost 30 producers taking part, from ice-cream and exotic fruit, to honey and macadamias, your taste buds will be well and truly tantalised by the moreish delights on offer.
The tour can be done on your own with the downloadable map or with a chef as a guide.
Brett’s Outback Tasting Adventures has launched tag-a-long tasting adventures from Cairns, the Northern Beaches and Port Douglas, which takes in the farm gates and tropical delights of the Atherton Tablelands.
Equipped with a CB radio to listen to the tour commentary, you’ll taste locally grown coffee, nuts, fruits, cheese, and wines. It’s perfect for those who want to taste and explore at their own pace without a tour group behind you.
