Itinerary

Charge up the Sat Nav and don’t forget the sunscreen – it’s time to check out the Heelers’ favourite haunts in and around Brisbane.

Although we can't be sure of exactly where the Heelers live in Brisbane, we have spied several familiar-looking places in the episodes.

From iconic city vistas and friendly neighbourhood parks to sun-soaked beaches and lush country hideouts, it’s easy to create unforgettable memories in Queensland with the family.

Bookmark this itinerary to explore the real-life backdrops of your favourite Bluey scenes.

DAY ONE: BRISBANE CITY AND SOUTH BANK

Winton and his Dad marvel at a busker performing as a statue.

Season 2, Episode 47 | Ice Cream

First stop, kiddos, is South Bank. Just like in the episode Ice Cream, you can enjoy a day out at the beach overlooking the city, sharing an ice cream or two.

Streets Beach alongside the Brisbane River offers a stunning man-made swimming sanctuary and is close to a kilometre-long Grand Arbour, The Wheel of Brisbane, the interactive Aquativity water park and plenty more.

Visit the Queensland Museum gift shop as one of the overhanging humpbacks down the famous Whale Mall peeks through the window. It’s a lovely ode to the city’s cultural centre and hands down one of the best things to do in Brisbane with kids

In Dance Mode, Bingo chooses a bustling shopping centre to flip tails and activate some serious dance moves. Want to join in? Head to Queen Street Mall, a unique open-air shopping centre – the perfect spot to feel the rhythm.

DAY TWO: BRISBANE SUBURBS

Bandit and Bluey sitting on the ground at New Farm Park

Season 1, Episode 12 | Spy Game

No time for a nana nap, love. The Brisbane ‘burbs are brimming with behind-the-scenes inspiration so you can pick and choose your favourite episodes to see in real life.

The Gap | Paddington | Toowong | Ashgrove

Start with The Gap, an idyllic neighbourhood with beautiful Queensland homes similar to the Heeler house.

You can recreate the turtle game at Benjamina Place Park like in the episode Turtleboy; Hilder Road State School could be where the grown-ups vote in Circus, and Wittonga Park provides a potential backdrop for Dusty’s glorious catch in Cricket as well as dodging crocodiles in Shadowlands.

Paddington is only a few minutes away from The Gap and appears to inspire further familiar pit stops. In Ragdoll, the kids hit a corner store that could be Flannerys Organic Market while The Java Lounge’s al fresco cafe seating appears to be the perfect spot for a lunchtime giggle like in Favourite Thing

Don’t leave this neck of the woods without driving past Toowong Cemetery, which reminds us of Statue World in Show And Tell. Bonus: it’s only a four-minute drive from the ‘very romance’ JC Slaughter Falls which is widely reported to be The Creek

Soaked up enough serenity? Hop back in the car and drive about 10 minutes north to sniff out Ashgrove Library to play ‘Toddlers’ like in the episode of Promises, where the playground is ready and waiting to exhaust little sausage dog legs

Bluey, Bingo and friends on a lookout platform in front of a city view

Season 3, Episode 49 | The Sign

New Farm | Kangaroo Point

One of Brisbane’s largest parks, New Farm Park, is flowing with potion grass to collect, just like in Spy Game, and across the river, is Medley at Kangaroo Point, where you can pick up a delicious juice just like Aunt Frisky did in The Sign

Mount Coot-tha

And while we’re remembering the show’s epic 28-minute tear-jerker, Bluey finds a lucky coin in The Sign which she jams into a public look-out telescope. To recreate this moment, head to the spectacular Mount Coot-tha Summit Lookout and admire the expansive city views.

Wynnum

Round out a day of sightseeing in Wynnum where you’ll find Wynnum Aqua Park (known locally as the Whale Park) and Inflatable World – the perfect spots for a game of Pass The Parcel. Cafes overlooking the coastline dot the main strip so it’s the ideal spot to unwind.

Bluey-inspired playgrounds

Cheese and crackers, we forgot the playgrounds! If you’ve got anything left in the tank, or need to head back inland for your Brisbane accommodation, add Hawthorne Park and Orleigh Park in West End to your monster list – they might remind you of where Bluey and Bingo play in Wagonride and Seesaw

DAY THREE: BRISBANE DAY TRIP TO THE SCENIC RIM

Bluey and Jean Luc looking at a creek

Season 1, Episode 43 | Camping

Ready for a road trip? The Scenic Rim, located just over an hour’s drive from the city, is your chance to uncover Brisbane's World Heritage-listed backyard.

In the episode Camping, Bluey finds a friend for life in Jean-Luc and is surrounded by natural beauty. Families have a wealth of outdoor adventure options in Queensland, such as Mount Barney National Park, home to Mount Barney Lodge where you’ll find hands-on, memorable and fun, nature-based activities.

Don’t leave without journeying a little north from Mount Barney to find the soothing waters of Lake Moogerah, a wonderful spot to canoe with Grandad.

DAY FOUR: DAY TRIP TO THE SUNSHINE COAST

The Heeler family at a Queensland beach

Season 1, Episode 26 | The Beach

Ready to be full-blown explorers? Take a peek at the Glass House Mountains while you wind your way through the Sunshine Coast Hinterland

And while you’re counting all 11 of the spectacular region’s mountains, drop into any one of the local fruit farms, inspiring the strawberry field visited by a very higgledy-piggledy Jack’s dad in Explorers

Next up… beach! Queensland is filled to the brim with kid-friendly sandy spots, so there’s no shortage of places to build a sandcastle or splash in the water like in The Beach. The 13-kilometre stretch of coastline at Peregian Beach is especially hypnotising and perfect for dodging seagulls and growing mermaid legs.

And if you’re in the mood for a splash and surf, head south to seek out Currimundi. Taking out the crown for Queensland’s Cleanest Beach in 2024, the only thing it’s littered with is stickbirds.

Think you’re done? How very dare you. Noosaville is also worth serious time as the destination looks to influence many of the stars of Piggyback including Gympie Terrace’s big pelican sculpture out the front of Pelican Boat Hire, and Noosa Jet Ski Hire.

DAY FIVE: DAY TRIP TO THE GOLD COAST

Apartments overlooking the beach

Season 2, Episode 11 | Charades

Step away from the Faceytalk — we’re heading on another road trip. Bandit's folks (Nana Chris and Bobba) live the good beachfront apartment life as seen in Grannies and Charades, and you can find your own beachfront apartment about an hour from Brisbane’s CBD in Burleigh Heads

And while you’re on the Gold Coast, don’t miss a fun-filled day out at these thrilling theme parks.

Now you've got your itinerary locked in, here's everything you need for a Bluey-inspired Queensland holiday.
