Fed up with the city? Forgoing the skyscrapers for a tree change doesn’t have to be permanent. But a getaway spent at a Queensland farm stay is an easy way to help you get back in touch with nature, and introduce your kids to some good old-fashioned country values.

Considering the sheer number of producers that calls the Sunshine State home, it’s no surprise that there’s a bounty of properties welcoming of guests. As for the 14 best Queensland farm stays, see our guide below.

Farm stays around Brisbane

The following properties prove that to forgo the city life you don’t have to go far from the borders of Brisbane CBD.

Run by sixth generation farmers the Tommerup family, the property allows guests to help milk cows, feed the animals and collect eggs among other tasks. Rest your head in one of two options: The Homestead, the original family home built in 1888; or more petite offering The Cottage.

But that’s not all there is to do on the 1050 acre property. The family-run farm will showcase the best of country life, from animal feeding to cracking whips and making damper. There are four different cottages to choose from when it comes to spending the night: the original Homestead, Dairy Cottage, Wallaby Cottage, and Stinson Cottage.
