Looking for the perfect Gold Coast accommodation for washing the sand off your kid’s toes or enjoying a fun weekend away with the girls? No matter how old (or young) you are or who you’re travelling with, an apartment is the perfect choice. Extra space gives everyone room to spread out and the money you save by self-catering can be spent on fun activities like surf lessons or visiting the Gold Coast theme parks. Here are six of the best self-contained apartments and serviced apartment hotels on the Gold Coast.
Bujerum Apartments
If you long for the carefree beach house holidays of your childhood but prefer a little luxury now you’re a grown up, Bujerum Apartments at Burleigh Heads are for you. What was once a 1930s beach house has been converted into a tasteful low rise boutique accommodation complex offering a choice of two- and three- bedroom self-contained apartments in a prime location opposite Burleigh Beach.
Here you get beach chic décor, ocean views, and terrific people-watching from the spacious front balcony. Burleigh’s biggest drawcards – the lush headland, Village Markets, Burleigh Heads National Park, and the shopping and dining delights of James Street – are all within walking distance. The only downside with these apartments is there aren’t many of them and they tend to book up fast.

Secluded relaxation spots, a kids' play zone, and a large barbeque area near the pool where guests can socialise and soak up the sun make this all-suite apartment hotel a top choice for multigenerational getaways.
Other on-site entertainment includes a large swimming pool, partially covered lap pool, spas, a sauna, and a well-equipped gymnasium. All of the chic one, two, and three bedroom apartments at Peppers Broadbeach are spacious and airy, and the views from the higher floors are superb.
Self-catering is a breeze thanks to the designer kitchen but the hotel is also surrounded by enough dining options to suit every taste and budget for family members who feel like stepping out.

If you’re looking for a big name apartment hotel in the heart of the action, the Hilton Surfers Paradise Hotel & Residences is the place to stay. Located a few steps from the Cavill Mall, the Hilton offers a choice of hotel rooms and self-contained residences in two gleaming glass towers.
The one, two, three, and four bedroom residences come with Hilton’s five-star service and views of the ocean and Gold Coast hinterland. There’s a large swimming pool, a kids pool, and a heated indoor pool for cooler days, along with a spa and sauna. The Deck Bar serves cocktails and casual pool snacks and has an attractive outdoor dining area. The upmarket yet casual restaurant Catch on Level 1 is great for breakfast or dinner.
Oaks Gold Coast Hotel
The Oaks Gold Coast Hotel is smack-bang in the middle of Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise, giving you double the dining and activity options for your Gold Coast holiday. Recently renovated and reinvented with a fresh new look, these spacious refurbished apartments will impress budget-conscious families and groups.
There’s loads of room and the two bedroom ocean view apartments have not one, but three, balconies. Two have ocean views while the third overlooks the Gold Coast Broadwater. Enjoy the sweeping view of the sparkling lights of Surfers Paradise with a glass of wine after the kids have gone to bed.
Mantra Coolangatta
Book one of the one, two, or three bedroom apartments at Mantra Coolangatta Beach for views of the Greenmount headland and long sandy beach. Just up the road, The Strand shopping complex offers everything you need for a great holiday, from cinemas to day spas, a Timezone, dining options galore, and several supermarkets.
Two patrolled swimming spots, a great kid’s playground across the road, and a shady stretch of sand at the southern end of Coolangatta Beach add yet more reasons to stay at this apartment hotel which has some of the friendliest staff on the coast. Gold Coast Airport is just 10 minutes away by car.

The one-, two-, and three-bedroom eco-friendly Binna Burra Sky Lodges are located in the heart of Lamington National Park with views of the Coomera and Numinbah Valleys. Each lodge has a large outdoor seating area, a gas barbeque on the deck, full kitchen, and an ensuite with a spa bath overlooking the mountains.
At Binna Burra, you can connect with the land’s traditional owners on the Caves circuit, a 5km return walk which travels through caves which were once used for shelter and cooking by the Yugambeh people. Sign up for one of the guided walks, join an archery class, or listen to the birds from your balcony.
