A weekend getaway in the Scenic Rim does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s relaxing, has plenty of stunning scenery, and it’s a real treat for food and wine lovers. Well, now it’s about to exceed its own expectations.
As part of the state’s Attracting Tourism Fund (ATF), the Queensland Government is partnering with Beechmont Estate to create a new eco-tourism project in the Scenic Rim hinterland.
This development is set to include a range of facilities to complement the existing Beechmont Estate, including luxury glamping options and farm cottages, a dining establishment, wagyu cellar door (we hear it’ll be offering fresh farm-to-table produce) and a tranquil day spa.
Not only is this project expected to attract 18,000 visitors a year to the stunning Scenic Rim region, but it’ll pump an additional $4.5 million into the economy too. Tourism Industry Development Minister Kate Jones has also expressed her support.
“The coronavirus pandemic is only one of a number of blows to locals in this region - who also battled bushfires in recent months. This project will help to create jobs and give local businesses a great leg up in the future. The flow-on effect of projects like these is massive - once it’s up and running, Beechmont Estate will give a huge boost to the local economy in the hinterland.”
Beechmont Estate celebrates a slower, simpler way of life which is something many of us have come to appreciate over the past few months. This ethos combined with the need to drive Queensland’s economic recovery gives us every reason to pencil the Scenic Rim into our diaries. Hazelwood Estate is looking forward to welcoming you in early 2021.
