Incredible places to skydive in Queensland

List

If you think Queensland looks impressive from the ground, why not take in the views from around 10,000ft above it all instead? There's just one catch - you'll be coming back down by parachute.

Sign up for one of these skydiving experiences and you'll be free-falling over some of the most awe-inspiring scenery on earth. If the heart-rush hadn't already taken your breath away, the panoramas of the Gold Coast's surf breaks, idyllic Whitsunday Islands, or World Heritage rainforest surely will.

Thrill seekers - these are the most incredible places to skydive in Queensland.

Get your heart racing on the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast may be famous for its drawcard surf breaks and theme parks, but there are plenty of thrills to be had across the region - including in the air. If you want to get even higher than Australia's tallest building, which stands among the skyscrapers of Surfers Paradise, try skydiving on the Gold Coast while you're here.

Make your way to the southern end of the coast to team up with Coolangatta's Gold Coast Skydive. Climbing at least 10,000ft into the sky before a giant leap, you'll take in views across to Surfers Paradise and South Stradbroke Island, before feeling the rush down to land on the sparkling sand at Kirra Beach

Freefall over the Queensland countryside

Drive around an hour and a half west of Brisbane and you’ll find yourself in the tiny country town of Toogoolawah. It's home to around 1,200 people, plenty of koalas and kangaroos, and the Ramblers Parachute Centre - Queensland's largest and longest established skydiving operation.

Strap yourself to an instructor for a tandem jump and you can be up in the air in an hour. You might have to wait until after the freefall to breathe in that fresh country air - but the views on the way down are surely worth it.

If you’re serious about skydiving, sign up to their Accelerated Freefall course and learn how to fly solo.

Soar through the sky above island paradise

Queensland’s island-dotted coastline is life-changing to explore, but you need to experience it from nearly 15,000 feet above sea level. It's up here that you can peer out over some of the 74 islands that form The Whitsundays' archipelago - before you hurtle out of the plane on a tandem dive with Skydive Airlie Beach, spotting famous Whitehaven Beach on the descent.

On the Sunshine Coast, jump with Skydive Noosa to experience 60 seconds of heart-stopping freefall, reaching speeds of up to 220km/hr. Once your breath catches up to you and your instructor pulls the 'chute, you'll have 5 - 7 minutes of soaring to take in the Sunshine Coast from a whole new angle, with Yarun (Bribie Island) and Mulgumpin (Moreton Island) as your backdrop - before touching down on Coolum Beach.

Glide above the Great Barrier Reef

Diving or snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef is a must while you're in Queensland, but you can get a bird’s eye view when you jump with the team at Skydive Mission Beach. This peaceful seaside community is home to a truly exhilerating experience - and views to match, with a panorama of turquoise waters, fringing reef and coral cays to take in.

If you're looking for more incredible places to skydive in Queensland, it can't get better than a jump that offers eye-watering views of two UNESCO World Heritage sites. Head into the air with Skydive Cairns and you’ll see the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree Rainforest and Trinity Inlet as you soar back down towards the city.
