The Cullen Point Barra Bash is an annual fishing competition hosted by the Mapoon Aboriginal Community in the pristine waters of western Cape York in Far North Queensland.
Mapoon is situated on the shores of Port Musgrave and offers exceptional river, estuary and beach fishing.
The two day competition is held in the Spring School Holidays making it a fantastic opportunity for an adventure with the kids. Visitors will: get the challenge of a four wheel drive trip to visit a little known part of Cape York; experience the hospitality of the Aboriginal traditional owners; do lots of fishing and catch barramundi, one of the great fighting fish; enjoy a family friendly atmosphere with activities for kids and ending with a community barbecue and prize giving.
Bush camping and some motel accommodation is available in Mapoon.
