The range of habitats include misty, heath-covered mountains, thick rainforest, tropical waterfalls, white sandy beaches, paperbark and palm wetlands, and extensive woodlands. Patches of eucalyptus forest descend to a mangrove-fringed channel in the west, with sweeping bays and rocky headlands to the east.

Hinchinbrook Island Thorsborne Trail Transfers
Start your Thorsborne Trail hiking adventure at Cardwell where it is only a 45-minute boat trip to the Ramsay Bay Boardwalk on the northern end of Hinchinbrook Island. After finishing your 32-kilometre hike at George Point on the southern end of the island, enjoy the scenic return to Cardwell through the majestic Hinchinbrook Channel. You can either walk north to south or south to north or only part of the trail and return to the place you began. Three nights, four days are recommended to be the minimal time to walk the entire Thorsborne Trail.
