Spend time amongst a rare woodland communities next to one of the largest natural lakes in the Central Queensland Sandstone Belt.
Conserving endangered bonewood scrub and vulnerable ooline tree, Nuga Nuga National Park is an island of unique and varied vegetation in a heavily cleared landscape.
Set up camp on the banks of the lake not far from Mount Warrnilla and explore the surrounding parks. Remember your binoculars because the lake is a valuable refuge for waterbirds, many of which are migratory and listed under international agreements. More than 150 species of birds have been recorded here.
If the season is right, the lake will be scattered in a carpet of waterlilies—a photographer's delight.
At night, sit around the campfire under a star-studded sky.
