Curbing those morning hunger pangs with a quality feed is easy in Brisbane. Home to a cafe culture on par with any larger metropolis down south, the Sunshine State capital is today home to a cluster of outstanding eateries specialising in breakfast and the like. Spread across the city and its gathering of suburbs, here is where you’ll find the best brunch in Brisbane.

Make way for West End, the eclectic inner city suburb that has become a haven of cafes, bars, and breweries, nestled amongst its boutiques and galleries. In its midst sits the family-friendly Jugar Eat Play Drink, a café abundant in Instagram-worthy eats and a beautiful space to match. Picture the perfect place to catch up with friends, have a decent meal, good coffee or even a drink, all the while having a safe (soundproof) space where children can enjoy themselves.
Tucked into the ever-growing array of eateries in Albion you’ll find She Bangs Coffee. Pairing quality brew with a rather indulgent array of breakfast dishes, this place promises to dazzle your tastebuds. This is also arguably the home of Brisbane’s most decadent eggs benedict - picture a homemade croissant topped with spinach, poached eggs, hollandaise, relish and your choice of smoked salmon, ham, bacon or mushrooms.

A new addition to the expanding list of best brunch in Brisbane can be found a 1930s cottage in Camp Hill - Florence Cafe. Housed in the former headquarters of much loved Cafe Grenadine is this equally adored replacement, a seasonally focused eatery serving up wholesome dishes accompanied by housemade pickles and preserves and local coffee from Parallel Roasters.
New Farm remains home to a hefty majority of the best brunch spots in Brisbane. Including Miss Jones, which resides on the main drag of Brunswick Street, and is an eatery heartily embracing a millennial colour scheme with ample greenery, neon lights and millennial pink. Creative breakfasts are the specialty: like hearty crumpets with cinnamon-heavy butter, or the ultra indulgent banoffee waffles, heaped in caramelised banana, and a gingerbread crumb.

Nodo Doughnuts is not far, cusping shopping favourite James Street. A steady stream of fans flock through the doors here, particularly on weekends, tempted by the breakfast space which began with gluten-free ‘baked not fried’ donuts and has now emerged into a fully fledged brunch offering with the same focus on healthy ingredients, free from any nasties.
Fellow Queenslander and contender in the best brunches in Brisbane is Corner Store Cafe. The Toowong local resides in a restored Federation cottage, where executive chef Dylan Brace serves up heaped plates of wholesome breakfasts crafted from its neighbouring kitchen garden, alongside quality coffee from head barista Thomas Boorman.

‘Espresso and eats’ is the vision behind Morning After in West End, a venue from mother-and-son duo Soula and Yianni Passaris. To call this impeccably styled space creative would be an understatement - nibble on the likes of blue swimmer crab omelette and breakfast carbonara, served alongside coffee by 5 Senses.
Enjoy a brunch with a particularly boozy edge at Paddington favourite Kettle & Tin. It’s in this quaint Queenslander that you can tuck into one of four different bloody mary concoctions (including a particularly spicy addition featuring sriracha), alongside traditional brunch favourites, smashed avo, and bacon and egg rolls included.

Paw Paw has long been considered one of the best brunch destinations in Brisbane. Within arm’s reach of sporting mecca The Gabba, the eatery incorporates an Asian-twist into its expansive menu. Pull up a pew in the quirky diner seven days a week, seating yourself amongst its vibrant murals for the venue’s specialty, inventive brunch.
New Farm has a reputation for being rather stylish, even when it comes to its eateries like King Arthur Cafe, off James Street. The suave venue focuses on coffee and hearty homemade meals, from breakfast and lunch to baked goods. While the brunch menu continues to deliver, don’t miss out on a chance to sample the scrolls, too.

One of the most lauded brunch destinations of the capital is long-time breakfast specialist Anouk. Head for the hills of Paddington where the cafe lives within a restyled apothecary, complete with original bay windows and exposed brick walls. Stylish breakfasts abound here, from french toast pancakes to foraged field mushrooms topped with truffle oil.
