Coochiemudlo Island (Goochie Mudlo)

Coochiemudlo Island, Redlands Coast Area

Destination

With a heritage-listed emerald fringe of lush bushland, Coochiemudlo, which means ‘red rock’, lies quietly in Moreton Bay, just ten minutes by passenger ferry off Victoria Point (Warrer Warrer).

Affectionately dubbed ‘Coochie’ by locals, this tiny, sub-tropical island paradise is predominantly residential, with an abundance of naturally wonderful habitats and wildlife. Migratory birds, dolphins, dugongs, and armies of solider crabs that march across the sand at low tide are just some of the highlights to be enjoyed.

With the island just 5sq km in size, Coochie’s peaceful ambience and outstanding views make for the perfect day out, simply pack your swimmers and a picnic, or purchase food at one of the island cafes, and stroll to the beach.
