Sports heroes and craft beers – these are the words best describing Brisbane's inner-city suburb of Milton.
Football lovers flock to the suburb most weekends as Suncorp Stadium comes alive to host rugby league, rugby union or soccer matches. Some say Suncorp Stadium is the best stadium in the southern hemisphere, seating almost 55,000 and holding some of the world's best games.
Milton's other icon is the XXXX Ale House and Brewery where on any given day, the fragrant smell of hops will envelop you with the state's iconic brew. But from here if you head down the suburb's main commercial street, Park Road, you'll find a handful of smaller, local craft breweries Newstead Brewing Co and Aether Brewing, and awesome beer bars Mongrel and The Scratch.
As you pass down Park Road you'll run by a corner of Europe, the La Dolce Vita restaurant with it's mini Eiffel Tour that's stood since 1989. Stroll down towards and along the river and you'll run into the heritage-listed Regatta Hotel - one of Brisbane's oldest pubs.
