Mugul Mountain Retreat

Colosseum, Gladstone Area

Accommodation

Nestled at the base of Mugul Mountain (or Mt Colosseum), one hour’s drive south of Gladstone in Queensland, their 300-acre property offers a unique experience.

Mugul Mountain is a sacred Indigenous site for the local Gooreng Gooreng people and a national park.

It was a meeting place for the Toolooa, Merooni and Gooreng Gooreng peoples who would meet at Mugul once a year for a corroboree.

Stay overnight in the nearly completed homestead, a Balinese inspired pole home, or you can camp on the property or bring your caravan. They are a pet-friendly bed and breakfast and camping site. Guests can stay in one of their two bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed.

Large verandas surround most of the house. Relax with the cool breezes that arrive each afternoon and check out the mountain. They have walking tracks for the adventurous.

For campers and grey nomads they have basic unpowered sites available.

Horses and their owners are welcome.

They are one hour from Gladstone and one and a half hours from Bundaberg.

Mugul Mountain Retreat is located halfway between Brisbane and Mackay.

Mysterious misty mornings are a great delight.
