What's there to see on the K'gari - (formerly Fraser Island) Great Walk?
Crystal-clear freshwater lakes, lush rainforests, vast sand dunes and wild dingoes - just to name a few things!
This walk takes you through 90 kilometres of Mother Nature's glory in the Great Sandy National Park on K'gari- which was listed as a World Heritage Area in 1992 in recognition of the island's internationally significant natural features. It also happens to be the largest sand island in the world.
The K'gari Great Walk passes iconic sites such as Lake McKenzie (Boorangoora), Wanggoolba Creek, Lake Wabby and Central Station. It will take you about 6-8 days to complete this walk which is considered a moderately difficult grade. There are several access points along the trail where vehicles can pick you up or drop you off if you decide for a shorter walk. It is strongly advised to pack lots of drinking water and sun protection.
