The past few years has seen a hotel boom in Brisbane, with a flurry of new digs claiming their spot on the city’s skyline. If you’re in town to check out a show, sporting event, cocktail bar, or just for a holiday, this city has got you covered.

These new hotels in Brisbane are more than just a place to rest your head: they're destinations in their own right, bringing serious bed cred to the River City. 

Hotel X

Looking for a hotel on the doorstep of the city's best restaurants and bars? X marks the spot.

Hotel X burst onto the scene in February 2021, bringing five star luxury and international design flair to Brisbane's Fortitude Valley. This is a 146-room destination hotel you'll be hard pressed to leave, from its artistic touches and cityscape views to rooms decked out with GHD appliances and amenities designed by Karl Lagerfield. And that's before you discover the ground floor bar and restaurant or rooftop poolside bar. 

Managed to pull yourself away? The nightlife of the Valley, waterside dining at Howard Smith Wharves and boutiques of James Street are calling. 

Courtyard by Marriott Brisbane South Bank

Base yourself in the heart of the city's cultural district at newly opened Courtyard by Marriott Brisbane South Bank. Just steps from the hotel is South Bank Parklands, Streets Beach, waterfront restaurants, galleries and the entertainment precinct.

When you need a break from sightseeing, the Courtyard is one of the best spots to recharge - with modern guest rooms to super-size suites equipped with kitchenettes, perfect whether you're in town for business or pleasure. Take a dip in the indoor pool, then head out to explore again. 

W Brisbane 

Marriott International Hotel

Illustrious five-star W Hotel chose Brisbane as its first Australian city, and W Brisbane has been a landmark on our riverfront ever since. 

Located at 300 George Street on the site of the old law courts, the prime position offers views from South Bank to Mount Coot-tha, while the design pays tribute to the local Indigenous culture and the river that defines Brisbane.

The W Brisbane boasts three bars and restaurants (including the renowned Three Blue Ducks and poolside WET bar) in addition to 312 guest rooms. The AWAY Spa and FIT Gym are perfect for unwinding or keeping things moving. 

If you can’t stand the thought of leaving your fur baby at home, pets are welcome too. 

Ovolo Inchcolm Hotel, Spring Hill

Hong Kong hospitality group Ovolo’s first expansion into Brisbane was with the Ovolo Inchcolm.

Located in Spring Hill, the 1924-built Georgian hotel and former medical practice boasts 50 bespoke guest rooms. The two-bedroom General Macarthur suite is a highlight, named after the five-star US Army Chief of Staff who was treated there while stationed in Brisbane during World War II.

Funky on-site restaurant Salon de Co offers a menu that encourages sharing and heavily features local produce, while the eclectic bar is the place to sit back with a martini and admire the oddities on display. 

Possessing a 100-plus-capacity conference and events space, the Ovolo Inchcolm is a stylish option whether you’re in town for work or play.

FV by Peppers, Fortitude Valley

Flatiron skyscrapers are no longer just synonymous with the New York City skyline.

The classic structure has been re-imagined at FV by PeppersBoasting three thirty-storey towers, the luxury hotel is a new addition to Fortitude Valley‘s landscape.

Choose from one or two-bedroom apartments boasting understated elegance – neutral tones, minimal furnishings and floor-to-ceiling glass for five-star views of the City. The best seat in the house is at the swim-up pool bar. You can also book yourself into the moonlight cinema or yoga retreat.

Emporium South Bank

Hip design, the latest in-room technology and personalised service are the star elements of the five-star Emporium Hotel South Bank.

Forming part of the $600 million Southpoint precinct on Grey Street, take your pick from 143 luxuriously appointed suites – some with freestanding marble baths that offer floor-to-ceiling city views.

Emporium’s flagship restaurant, Signature, celebrates the best of Australian produce with the five or seven-course tasting menus a highlight. For drinks, take your pick between the classy Piano Bar on the ground level or the Terrace on the rooftop which offers magnificent views over South Bank Parklands, the Brisbane River, city and beyond. 

The Calile Hotel, Fortitude Valley

Say hello to The Calile Hotel, a seven-storey urban resort that feels a world away from reality; home to 175 rooms, a mix of boutiques, cafes and restaurants.

Best described as a whimsical oasis, the 103-room Ovolo The Valley is one of the most playful and luxurious hotels in Brisbane.

The heritage-listed Howard Smith Wharves has been to place to eat and drink in Brisbane since it opened in 2018, and you can stay right in the action at Crystalbrook Vincent

Hotels to open soon in Brisbane

Queens Wharf (opening 2022)

Brisbane’s transformation is going to go to another level in 2022.

The Queens Wharf Development is bringing not one, but five, new premium hotel brands to Brisbane. Expect to see new hotels from the likes of the Ritz Carlton, Rosewood, Dorsett and the Star Entertainment Group, with Brisbane’s first six-star hotel also part of the development.

Encompassing 12 football fields’ worth of public space, the project will provide the city with 1,000 new hotel rooms, 50 new restaurants, cafes and bars, and a landmark Sky Tower.

Hyatt Place Brisbane (opening 2023)

Hyatt is returning to Brisbane in 2023, with a new hotel scheduled to open in Woolloongabba.

The hotel will feature 170 rooms, a rooftop pool and bar, a cafe, fitness centre and food market.

AFL and cricket fans will love the location near the Gabba, while the new Cross River Rail project will also be a stone’s throw away.
